Sir Elton John, the multi-million album selling superstar, has announced he will play a show at Scarborough's Open Air Theatre on June 5th.
Accompanied on stage by a backing band, Elton and Co will now play four open air shows this summer, one at Shrewsbury Football Club, one at Northampton Cricket Ground, one at Sussex's County Ground and now this new concert at Europe’s largest open-air theatre in Scarborough.
Speaking about the show, Elton said: “The first time I played in Yorkshire was in 1970 at the Yorkshire Jazz Folk and Blues Festival near Halifax, but I’ve never played in Scarborough before. I’m looking forward to my first summer visit to this classic English seaside town, and you can expect a night of hit songs, dancing and fun whatever the weather.”
Elton John has announced the following UK shows for 2011:
June 2011
5th – Open Air Theatre, Scarborough
12th – Greenhouse Meadow, Shrewsbury Town FC, Shrewsbury
