Bloc Party’s Russell Lissack has confirmed that the group will reunite this September. Fans have been speculating about the return of the band for several months since a photo of the four-piece spending Christmas together appeared online. However, in a recent interview with NME, Lissack confirmed that the band have scheduled studio time in September to reconvene and record their fourth studio LP.
As previously reported by Stereoboard , rumours were fuelled once again late last month after Ash frontman Tim Wheeler announced that Lissack had terminated his temporary playing career with the band.
Lissack confirmed the news himself as he told NME: "Kele and I started working on Bloc Party stuff together and separately. We're having a bit of a break until the festivals are over, because people have commitments during the summer, but we're going to get back properly in September and sit in a rehearsal studio to work on new band material."
Speaking in another recent interview, Lissack confirmed that he has written “maybe seven or eight songs” during his time touring with Ash and side-project Pin Me Down.
However, fans will probably have to wait until 2012 to see the band performing live again. In a statement on his Facebook page earlier this year, drummer Matt Tong asserted that the group will “probably not” be performing together live this side of new year’s eve.
