Evanescence have announced that they will be entering the studio this week to begin the follow-up to their 2006 release, ‘The Open Door’. The band began sessions on the release as early as February last year, working with English producer Steve Lillywhite. However, the album’s production was put into question when the band abandoned the recording, citing problems with their label as the main cause.
Recording is now set to recommence as Evanescence enter the studio with Foo Fighters producer Nick Rasculinecz to work on their untitled third studio LP.
Speaking about the recording, lead singer Amy Lee said: "We can't wait to show everyone what we've been working on. We've been finding ourselves, reinventing our sound, experimenting with things we've never done before and at the same time embracing the things we love most about Evanescence. This journey has made us the strongest we've ever been as a band, and I am in love with the music. Nick Rasculinecz is the perfect fit for this record and we are all very excited to get into the studio together."
The singer also told Rolling Stone last year that the new record would be influenced by the likes of Depeche Mode, MGMT and Portishead. W
ind-up Records President Edward Vetri added: “Amy and the band have been hard at work on the new record. The time off has allowed Amy to expand the creative boundaries of Evanescence. We are very excited to bring this music to the world.”
