Razorlight singer Johnny Borrell has commented on the recent actions of The Libertines frontmen Pete Dohery and Carl Barat, claiming that he finds their current problems "depressing".
Borrell, who was once friends with both Doherty and Barat, told The Times that people often attempt to cheer him up by pointing out the recent hardships of The Libertines’ duo. However, the Razorlight frontman (who once played bass in an early version of The Libertines) claimed that he gains no joy out of reading about Doherty and Barat, instead finding their current situation “depressing”.
Speaking to the paper, Borrell claimed that hearing about Doherty’s recent six-month incarceration and Barat’s declaration that The Libertines have “no future” only made him “feel sad”.
The Razorlight singer said: "Some people will tell me how bad things are for Pete and Carlos, like that's going to make me feel good. It doesn't make me feel good. It's just depressing. It's just sad. We were really close friends a long time ago. The people I knew don't exist any more."
Borrell also went on to confirm that rumours stating he used to ride his motorbike through ex-girlfriend Kirsten Dunst’s living room were true. Speaking about his 2007 relationship with the actress, the singer said: "It was a shared lounge and there were four people on the back. You could go quite fast. I could almost get into second gear.”
Razorlight are set to make their return to live music this summer with several festival appearances scheduled including perfomrances at GuilFest and Get Loaded In the Park.
