He started his musical career in 1977, performing in several bands before moving into composing film scores. He has worked on some of the biggest films with the most iconic soundtracks of all time, including The Lion King, Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Da Vinci Code, Inception, Sherlock Holmes and The Amazing Spiderman 2, to name just a few.

Across an illustrious career, he has been awarded some of the highest honours in film, television and music, including two Academy Awards, a BAFTA, four Classic BRIT Awards, three Golden Globes, four Grammys and many, many more.
