Stereoboard fans are in for a treat at the start of next week – as we launch our own brand new feature for Twitter.com/Stereoboard and Facebook.com/Stereoboard, making Stereoboard that little bit better for all of our social-networking users.
Starting from Monday August 10th (although we’ll give you lucky bunch a preview of the new features today), Stereoboarders will be given four treats a day in the form of songs, videos and gigs which are hand-picked by our crack team of musical geniuses – from Monday to Friday every week.
Those of you on Twitter and Facebook will wake up to a feature on a classic and memorable gig, or notable music event, from the archives which happened on 'This Day in Music History'. Whether it be Queen, Led Zeppelin, Elvis or even Madonna, ‘This Day in Music’ you’ll be transported back in time to witness the fitness of one of yesteryear’s most notable and memorable music events. For example – did you know, on August 3rd 1963, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and the rest of the Beatles got up on stage to perform their last ever show together? They played in the Cavern Club, the same venue they played their first show at, and were paid £300 - £295 more than their first show. This feature promises an interesting and insightful read every morning at 9am – drink your coffees to this one, readers.
Just three hours later, your thirst for more musically orientated gifts will be quenched once more. With you most likely still reminiscing from the morning’s ‘This Day in Music’ classic, the nostalgia will really settle in after you’ve heard our 'Blast from the Past' – where we’ll post one vintage, borderline legendary track a day for your lunch time listening/viewing pleasure. Today’s Blast from the Past is none other than The Beastie Boy’s 1994 monster Sabotage. This golden oldie perfectly combines hip-hop’s finest lyricists with chunky rock guitar, which is guaranteed to have you air-guitaring in your office chair. Listen to Sabotage below.
After classic songs, classic gigs and another gruelling three hours in work, you must be thinking (or dreaming) of your next concert – who will I see, who’s playing in my city soon, where will it be, how much are tickets? This will soon be a thing of the past – thanks to our new 'Live Gig of the Week' feature. Each day we’ll pick one gig from one of five areas in the UK, and showcase what we believe to be the biggest and best show in that area coming up in the next 7 days. But as well as filling you in on who’s playing where in your local city, we’ll also show you a range of tickets for the gig – letting you find the cheapest tickets for the show every time. Don’t miss a gig, and don’t waste your money.
On Mondays, it’ll be London’s best forthcoming show – followed by Manchester and Liverpool on Tuesday. Wednesday will be the day of the Scots, while Thursday will fill in Birmingham and Wolverhampton locals. Friday will feature what’s on offer to those of you in Cardiff or Bristol.
The Scots are the lucky lads today, and their gig of the week is Dillinger Escape Plan’s up and coming gig at the Garage in Glasgow scheduled for this Friday – it is one of only four dates on their UK tour, so its not one to be missed. As always with Stereoboard, we aim to please – so, for our final gift, fans will be shown a new song selected by our new music team. Whether it’s new music from a new artist, or a veteran band’s latest offering, the 'Listen Up! Song of the Day' will be brand new, fresh, and great to listen to. You can come home from a hard day and know that when you find Stereoboard on either Twitter or Facebook, you can relax to a new tune – with the minimal amounts of effort. And for those of you who already have their feet up, here’s today’s Song of the Day – the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ new track ‘The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie’.
So there you have it, our new social media features which will keep you even more entertained than previously imagined – just make sure you follow us on Twitter.com/Stereoboard or Facebook.com/Stereoboard, otherwise these features won’t be available to you!
