One Direction Aim To Emulate Cher Lloyd's X-Factor Success

She’s received a lot of hating and abuse for her single ‘Swagger Jagger’, but Cher Lloyd has at least made a good impression on X-Factor boy band One Direction – who admitted that they’d love to be as successful as the chart-topping singer.

‘Swagger Jagger’ debuted at #1 on the week of its release, although it received a barrage of bad comments and dislikes online – with one user writing ‘This actually makes me want to vomit’. But One Direction, who release their debut single ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ on September 11th, hope that they receive the same reactions that shot Lloyd to #1.

“It's a bit of a wakeup call, you kind of realise how successful you can be off the back of X Factor,” said One Direction’s Zayn Malik. “She's off the same show as us and she's doing so well for herself and if we get a little bit of that success, we will be doing pretty well.”

Harry Styles is a fan of Lloyd, and added: “I spoke to her the other week, just to say that I liked the video. It's very abstract. It's cool and it's a great song. It's still weird to hear her on the radio though isn't it?”

Interestingly, those of you that watched X-Factor would know that One Direction actually finished above Cher on the talent contest – but are now hoping that they manage to achieve similar success to the singer.

Fellow bandmate Liam Payne spoke about their forthcoming release, saying “It brings it to life that we are going to be releasing a single in a few weeks. It's just been us out there recording and now we are actually going to be releasing something.”
