Cheshire-born Natalie McCool has already begun to make waves in the music industry, particularly after the release of her recent and fantastic ‘Black Sun’ EP. With a newly filmed video, Natalie is now ready to release her next single from the EP in the form of ‘Your Hero’.
This newest release from the EP is one of three songs based around the central theme of human “addiction”. Natalie describes the song as one about personal experience. “Some people have an addiction to one other person so much that they invent their own story with that other person in the leading role, even when in reality they have only just met. Believe me, I was on the bad end of this situation and it was quite scary.” She goes on to discuss the song’s theme being based upon wanting to control someone else so much that you become deluded. Another example of human “addiction” – the theme throughout ‘Black Sun’.
Yet again, Natalie’s beautiful, almost haunting vocal is a delight for the ears, with the chorus in particular truly showcasing her talent. The genuine emotion in Natalie’s voice is a stark contrast to the almost melancholic feel of the ‘Your Hero’ video. The video itself was shot, edited and produced by Leeds based filmmaker Danny Lacey of Stada Media. Danny was given a top of the range broadcasting camera by Sony so that he could shoot a music video, and chose Natalie as his subject artist. Quite an honour for the rising star. The video will be broadcast by Sony at a film conference in Amsterdam, and you can check it out below. A beautiful and striking piece of cinematography that ‘Your Hero’ is the perfect soundtrack to.
Natalie McCool has done it again, and proved exactly why she should be up there with the best of today’s female singer-songwriters. Another fantastic song that not only expresses a talented and heartfelt vocal, but also conveys a strong and personal theme. It ticks every box for what music should be about, and should certainly be enjoyed by Natalie’s steadily growing fan base. A definite star for the future.
‘Your Hero’ and the ‘Black Sun’ EP are both available now on iTunes.
