Written by Jon Stickler
Following an announcement earlier this year, Cliff Richard’s ‘Soulicious' album is confirmed for an October 10th release.
‘Soulicious’ is a 15-song collection of mostly new and some classic soul songs, the majority of which are produced by legendary Motown songwriter Lamont Dozier (with some also produced by soul legends Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson) who has, along with his son Beau Dozier, written a number of the album’s songs. The album features a number of duets between Cliff and some of the greatest voices ever in soul music, including Billy Paul, Brenda Holloway, Candi Staton, Dennis Edwards and The Temptations Review, Freda Payne, Percy Sledge, Roberta Flack and Valerie Simpson.
Cliff has had a life-long passion for soul music and the chance to work with such esteemed artists was a dream come true and a new challenge in his seven-decade, hugely successful career: a chance to cement his position as one of the greatest, most distinctive British singers of all-time.

On the experience of making ‘Soulicious’, Cliff said, “If you get all these icons to join me on an album I will have died and gone to heaven. That's what I said to David Gest when he first suggested this soul project. Here I am, not dead, but definitely in heaven!” He went on to share his gratitude, humbly saying of all the artists he worked with, “to all of you ‘legends’, I can only say thank you for finding the time to be with me on yet another dream adventure. It was great singing (and laughing a lot) with all of you!”
