Producer Paul Epworth has claimed that Florence and the Machine's upcoming sophomore album will contain “no weak tracks”. Over the past few months the British band have been working hard writing and recording the follow-up to their hugely successful debut ‘Lungs’, however Epworth has now hinted that their second effort may just overshadow the first.
Paul Epworth (of Bloc Party, Adele and Plan B fame) claimed recently that all the recent material from the band is strong, stating that he does not envy those who are left with the task of selecting the tracks which will make the album.
Speaking on his Twitter account, Epworth said: "Had a week of wonderful mixes coming in for Florence 2. I love handing something over to hear it come back better. I feel for the a&r dept having to try and whittle these tracks down to 10 or 12 because there really are no weak ones."
He continued: "It's a weird record that sounds live in ways and like a machine in others, with sensitivity and power from both the music and Flo's voice."
Earlier this year frontwoman Florence Welch discussed the ‘dark metaphors’ of the band's second album, saying: "A lot of the songs on the new album are about imaginary things, things that you can't touch - ghosts and rumours, my dead grandmother, things visiting you in a dream.”
