New York rapper DMX is to sue an Arizona police department for harassment after he was arrested for speeding offence two days ago.
The 40 year-old was pulled over and arrested on Wednesday after being seen doing over 100mph in a 65mph zone on a road in Arizona. But the hip-hop artist, born Earl Simmons, claimed that he was not doing over 90mph and is to pursue legal action against the police.
“I was going 85 miles per hour,” said Simmons. “I know for a fact I didn't go more than 90... I'm used to driving fast, I'm a New Yorker... but I constantly look at the speedometer when I'm driving... I need to make sure I don't drive too fast.
“I plan on suing... and I plan on suing for harassment... I'm in discussions with multiple lawyers who are not afraid to go against the system in helping me clear my name because I have been harassed.”
It’ll be an interesting case for the rapper as he has dozens of previous charges and convictions, including many for driving offences – he was sent to jail in 2010 for 90 days for a reckless driving in 2002.
