Belgian-born, Melbourne-based solo artist Wouter “Wally” De Backer aka Gotye – pronounced Gaulthier – has confirmed the release of his new single ‘Easy Way Out’, which is due out on 28th November. The track is the first to be taken from his forthcoming third album ‘Making Mirrors’ and is accompanied by a new music video – watch below.
‘Making Mirrors’ is due for official release in the UK on 13th February 2012. In August of this year, it came out in Australia, where it reached Number One in the country’s official albums chart and has since been certified Double-Platinum. The album also entered the Top 10 in New Zealand, the Netherlands and Gotye’s home country Belgium.
Gotye recently completed a sold-out tour of Australia, which included a ‘Making Mirrors’ album launch show at the Sydney Opera House. He has since embarked on a world tour and will be stopping off in the UK next month – see below for details and tickets.
Gotye released his debut album ‘Boardface’ in 2003, although it was the follow-up ‘Like Drawing Blood’ in 2006 that first brought him worldwide attention. His new album ‘Making Mirrors’ blends a number of different genres such as dub, soul, pop and folk. Recent single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ topped the chart in four countries.
