Folk-rock band The Levellers have been announced as the surprise support act for The Wonder Stuff’s upcoming show at O2 Academy Birmingham on Thursday 15th December. Earlier this year, The Wonder Stuff supported The Levellers as part of their Levelling The Land Tour, when the Brighton-based group played their classic second album in full. At next month’s shows in Birmingham and London, The Wonder Stuff will perform their third album ‘Never Loved Elvis’ in full. ‘Never Loved Elvis’ was the band’s best-selling album, reaching Number Three in the UK Albums Chart upon its release in 1991. It included the Top 10 singles ‘The Size of a Cow’ and ‘Welcome to the Cheap Seats’. The latter track featured a vocal contribution from the late Kirsty MacColl.
Speaking about the upcoming date in Birmingham, The Wonder Stuff’s frontman Miles Hunt said: “Having had a wonderful time on the road earlier this year as the special guests of Levellers, on their Levelling The Land Tour, we are happy to announce that they are returning the favour and will be joining The Wonder Stuff at our O2 Academy Birmingham show, celebrating the 20th anniversary of our 'Never Loved Elvis' album. It's gonna be a beautiful night.”
