Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O has revealed that she’s been working on some brand new material with the band, as well as her ambitions to bring her opera ‘Stop the Virgens’ to London after it saw success in her native New York.
It’s been almost three years since the band released their last album, ‘Blitz’, and fans are beginning to wonder when they’ll finally get to hear some new Yeah Yeah Yeahs material. Luckily, according to The Sun, it won’t be long.
Asked about her opera, Karen told The Sun: “It's [Stop the Virgens] a psycho rock opera in New York which was amazing and we want to take it to London.” She continued on to say: “And I've been tinkering around on some new Yeah Yeah Yeahs music with the boys.”
While the news is likely to please fans, Karen went on to say something no musician should say for fear of an online backlash – claiming that she had no idea about Led Zeppelin prior to her cover of the ‘Immigrant Song’ for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo soundtrack.
“I plead total ignorance to Led Zeppelin,” Karen said. “I am totally in the dark about them. That was the reason I could muster up whatever it took to actually cover that song. I didn't have any reverence for the track as I didn't really know it. When they asked I thought it was called 'The Pilgrim Song’.”
I can hear your cringes from my office.
