Lady Gaga hasn’t been without controversy in the past, but the star probably thinks people are simply out to get her – after a single person complained that her advert for ‘Born This Way’, which sees Gaga rub her stomach, was overtly sexual, sparking reviews and investigations.
Luckily, the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) deemed that the video wasn’t inappropriate, but it is just another in a long list of disagreements between standards agencies and the star, whose had a number of music videos banned from certain countries and websites in the past.
One (sad) individual decided to call-in after seeing the clip of Gaga rubbing her stomach, which is taken from her video ‘Judas’, on an advert for her latest album ‘Born This Way’. The ASA, though, deemed that as acceptable as it was “simply a part of the dance routine” – and quite rightly so.
They wrote: “The ASA understood that the ad consisted of clips from Lady GaGa promotional videos and noted that although the images featured the singer's trademark outrageous costumes and performance style the majority of the clips were not overtly sexual. Because the ad had been carefully scheduled, reducing the likelihood of children seeing it, we concluded that the scheduling had not breached the code.”
