Celebrated folk singer-songwriter, former Mercury Prize nominee Seth Lakeman is to release his 6th album 'Tales from the Barrel House' on April 2nd 2012.
Having made the album available exclusively to his mailing list before Christmas, Seth sold all 10,000 copies of this limited run in just five weeks, with an offer to personally sign all albums ordered in the first day resulting in over 3,000 copies being purchased in 24 hours.
Nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2005 for his 'Kitty Jay' album, 'Tales from the Barrel House' see's Seth returning to his Devon roots. Recorded at Morwellham Quay mining port on the north bank of the River Tamar, tracks were recorded in workshops located in the quay. One track even saw Seth descend into a disused West Country copper mine to record a vocal and banjo take.
Recorded with just one sound field microphone, Seth not only wrote all the songs, but played every musical contribution himself, as well as producing and mixing the album. He will be touring the UK in the coming weeks.
