Soulful jazz singer George Benson has revealed he will be visiting the UK this summer for a short tour.
The singer and guitarist Benson rose to fame in the UK in the early 1980’s with the release of his first UK track ‘In Your Eyes’. From the success of this track the UK pricked up their ears to “rediscover” Benson’s earlier material, including the Quincy Jones produced album ‘Give Me The Night’. An album that allowed Benson’s soulful voice to take centre stage.
Across the pond, stateside, Benson has been a star in the jazz world since the 1970s. He collaborated with brother Jack McDuff, providing the jazzy riffs to Jack’s organ and vocal skills and had huge hits with ‘Bad Benson’, ‘Breezin’ and ‘In Flight’. The majority of Benson’s recent output is still topping the US jazz chart today, including latest album, October 2011's 'Guitar Man'.
