Texas rockers At the Drive-In have revealed some news that will leave a few fans rather unhappy following their decision to reform last month – as it was made known that Cedric Bixler-Zavala and co. won’t be recording any new music in the near future.
The band announced their plans to reunite back in January, after taking a break of over ten years. But, with fans hoping that they might return for good, the guys have instead revealed that there won’t be any new material – and that it’s likely that they’ll only be making festival appearances this summer.
When asked by Kerrang! whether the new shows could lead to a new album, Omar Rodrigo-Lopez replied: “Will there be a new album? No, no, no. At The Drive-In is more of a nostalgia thing – it’s songs we wrote when we were all in our 20s and we’re doing a couple of shows. It’s an old T-shirt that doesn’t fit me anymore, but when you put it on again, it feels nice. It’s as simple as that.”
He went on to add that money was indeed a factor in the bands return, saying: “We’re not getting any younger and there’s been an offer of money every year. You can’t avoid that. You’d be a fool and a politician to pretend that wasn’t part of it.”
The band will be performing at this year’s Coachella Festival – if you need tickets to the event, check the link below.
