Flying Burrito Brother Chris Ethridge Dies Aged 65

The Flying Burrito Brothers bassist Chris Ethridge has sadly passed away aged 65, according to a tweet from friend and bandmate Willie Nelson.

Ethridge was a founding member of the legendary country rockers and played with them on and off for a number of years through the 60s and 70s, while also performing in Willie Nelson's Willie Nelson Family Band and playing bass for a number of musicians throughout his career.

Nelson informed fans via his Twitter, writing: “WN&F are sad to hear of the passing of Family member & friend Chris Ethridge he was a talented musician & we were honored to call him Family.”

The star's passing was apparently not much of a surprise, with Booker T Jones recently tweeting: “Just talked to Chris Ethridge, (Burritos, Willie Nelson), hospitalized in Meridian, MS - send love and hope - doctors say he will pass soon.” The cause of his death is currently unknown.

Our best wishes go out to his family and friends – RIP.
