Black Sabbath Respond To Drummer Bill Ward's Departure

Following Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward’s announcement that he would not be playing alongside the band at their reunion shows this year, the band have responded in their own statement – and have opted out of a war of words with the sticksman.
The legendary metal outfit had granted the wishes of thousands upon thousands of fans this year with the announcement that they’d be reuniting once again for a slot at Download Festival, as well as in Birmingham and at Lollapalooza. But, after contract disagreements (Ward said the contract was ‘totally unsatisfactory’), it was revealed that their drummer would not be participating in any of the shows.
Responding to Ward’s statement, the band decided to pen their own – and have attempted to keep the moral high-ground rather than get into a media/press argument with him.
The band said last night: “We have decided not to make any detailed comment on Bill’s latest statement. There are two sides to every story. We have been working hard at rehearsals making excellent progress after Tony’s treatments and we have engaged a substitute drummer for the forthcoming shows. See you at Download.”
It’ll be interesting to see whether there’ll be a reply from Ward, and more so to see who’s been drafted in as the substitute drummer – so stay with Stereoboard to stay up-to-date.
