Download's Andy Copping Refuses Idea Of Hologram Festival Performance

Andy Copping, organiser and chief of the annual Download Festival, has dismissed the idea of a hologram ever playing his event – and asked ‘why would you want to go and see a fucking hologram?’

Copping has been asked countless times whether a hologram could appear at Download Festival since holo-Tupac performed alongside Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre at Coachella Music Festival earlier in the year, but it seems reanimating a deceased musician is far from top of his wish-list – and promised attendees of his festivals that they’d only be seeing ‘live bands with proper interaction’.

Asked the very same question by Metal Hammer, Copping replied: “Absolutely not. If you're going to a live show, you want to see live bands with proper interaction. You're not going to see cartoons. I think the whole thing with Tupac and Dre and Snoop at Coachella was great, but it was a moment in time. Why would you want to go and see a fucking hologram? It doesn't sit comfortably with me at all. I don't get it.”

While there’ll be no holograms, Download Festival will see a range of rock royalty and metal titans performing across the weekend, with the likes of Black Sabbath and Metallica all set to smash up the stage. Check the link below to grab tickets.
