English singer-songwriter Hugh Cornwell - ex-frontman of punk group The Stranglers - has unveiled the artwork and tracklisting of his forthcoming new album ‘Totem and Taboo’.
The new record, which is released in the UK on Monday 10th September via Cadiz Music, was recorded at Electrical Audio Studios, Chicago, and received a professional mix down from former Nirvana and Pixies sound man Steve Albini. You can check the artwork for the record on the right, as well as seeing the tracklist below.
“This was the last song I wrote for the album,” says Cornwell about the title track Totem And Taboo. “It’s become one of my favourites. A hint of Rebel Rebel with some Marc Bolan glam thrown in. I’ve always liked songs with marching 4’s on the snare, and that’s what it is supposed to be, a rallying call for like-minded souls.”
Cornwell was the original guitarist, singer, and main songwriter of the British punk-rock outfit The Stranglers, and enjoyed massive UK and European success with ten hit albums and 21 Top 40 hit singles including ‘Peaches’, ‘No More Heroes’, ‘Golden Brown’, ‘Always the Sun’, ‘(Get A) Grip (On Yourself)’, ‘Nice N Sleazy’, ‘Duchess’, and ‘No Mercy’.
The star will be touring the UK this October, so if you’re a fan, you’ll have the chance to catch him performing tracks from the record later this year. To find tickets through Stereoboard, check the dates and details below the tracklisting.
