Double Grammy winners, The Civil Wars return to the UK for a nationwide tour that starts in Belfast on October 28th and includes a sold-out show at London’s historic Roundhouse on November 6th. The tour comes as the band’s acclaimed debut album ‘Barton Hollow’ passes 500,000 sales in the US and has been awarded Silver in the UK with sales fast approaching 100,000 copies.
Based in Nashville, The Civil Wars are an enigmatic duo comprised of California native Joy Williams and her Alabaman partner, John Paul White. They are a huge DIY success in the USA where, in addition to having independently sold over 500,000 copies of the ‘Barton Hollow’ album, they have performed several highly acclaimed sell-out tours. Their incredible year in the US was rounded off by winning two 2012 Grammy Awards for Best Folk Album and Best Country Performance earlier this year. The band also performed at the ceremony, propelling their album back into the US iTunes Top Five.
To coincide with the UK tour, the band are releasing ‘Poison & Wine’ as a radio single and will be re-issuing their ‘Poison & Wine’ EP as a companion release to ‘Barton Hollow’.
‘Poison & Wine’ EP tracklisting:
1. Poison & Wine
2. Talking In Your Sleep (The Romantics cover)
3. Between The Bars (Elliott Smith cover)
4. Disarm (Smashing Pumpkins cover)
Accompanied by dark and brooding visuals, the bands imagery continues the intimate conversations and understated sparks of the music. The bands tumblr is full of beautiful photography chronicling life on the road.
