Russell Watson Confirmed As First Headliner For 2013 Lytham Proms Festival

Russell Watson, the UK’s best-selling classical artist, selling in excess of seven million albums worldwide, has been announced as the first 2013 headline act to perform at Lytham Proms Festival Weekend on Saturday 3rd August 2013.
The ‘Last Night of The Proms’ style concert - or as it has been affectionately dubbed by locals as ‘The Proms’- will be held on the Saturday night and Russell will take to the stage to perform alongside his special guest, and a 32-piece orchestra.
His latest album 'Anthems – Music To Inspire A Nation' is a collection of considered, rousing, beautiful songs from around the country, sung deep from the heart, as only Russell can.
A spokesperson for Cuffe and Taylor, the concert promoters, said: “Where does time go? It does not seem like two minutes since we announced Russell Watson for our new Speke venue last year. We are in the very privileged position to be able to announce this amazing artist for our flagship event in Lytham. We always knew that Russell would delight the crowds in Speke, but the night far outweighed our expectations. The feedback was amazing and thankfully the sun shone on that Bank Holiday back in June, it was a truly magical night. Needless to say we are delighted to be able to bring him to the people of Lytham-St.Annes for 2013”.
‘The Proms’ is now going into its 4th year and is still growing from strength to strength, in 2012 record numbers attended the picnic-style concert.
Russell will perform in the ‘Last Night of the Proms’ on Saturday 3rd August 2013. Members of the public are encouraged to bring their own picnics and be wowed by the classics, such as 'Jerusalem', 'Land of Hope and Glory' and 'Rule Britannia', all culminating with a spectacular firework finale.
