Metallica Confirmed For Roskilde Festival - Their Only European Show Of The Summer

Thrash metal titans Metallica have announced that they’ll be performing their only European show this summer at Roskilde Festival, Denmark.
The band haven’t performed at the festival for 10 years, but despite being hard at work in the studio finishing what will be their 10th studio album, they’ve announced that they’ll be performing at this year’s Roskilde Festival, which takes place between the 29th June and the 7th of July this summer.
Metallica join the likes of Kraftwerk, The National, Rihanna, Queens Of The Stone Age, Sigur Ros, Slipknot and Volbeat on the festival’s 2013 headline bill, and those lucky enough to be there may very well witness some of the brand new music that James Hetfield and co. have been working on for the past two years.
It was not on the cards for the undisputed kings of metal to be playing anywhere in Europe this summer, but late in the game, the chiefs of Roskilde have managed to secure an exclusive one-off show with a band that first dominated the event’s iconic Orange Stage way back in 1986.
Rikke Øxner, Roskilde’s director of music and creation, has commented on the band’s additon, and has said:
”We listen to our audience, and this year they have been shouting for a large name to complete our high-quality, forward-thinking, broad music programme. Very few names of this kind are on tour, so we have had to think outside the box and are obviously thrilled to welcome back Lars Ulrich and his crew much earlier than expected.”
