The new Queens of the Stone Age album may be the best rock album for the past five years - according to the band’s collaborator Sir Elton John!
The band’s brand new album ‘...Like Clockwork’ hit shelves at the start of the week, and it's receiving critical acclaim across the board - and now, Sir Elton, who plays piano and provided vocals on their track ‘Fairweather Friends’, has claimed it may be the best rock album - by any band - for the past five or six years.
“I've never really played on a record with a rock band like that and for me it was one of the most exciting things I've ever done. I think its probably the best rock album by any band in about five or six years.”
Homme also had some good words to say about the singer and pianist - he told the tabloid:
“We played for three-and-a-half hours. That's how long it took to get it. Then he stayed for another three-and-a-half hours and he just talked and hung out and bullshitted and stuff like that.”
Queens of the Stone Age’s new album is out now, while you can catch them performing their new material at an intimate in-store show in London’s Rough Trade East next week (June 11th). They’ll also be playing at Download Festival and iTunes Festival - keep your eyes peeled on Stereoboard to see if they announce a headline UK tour, too.
