Controversial rapper Tyler, the Creator has allegedly been reported to Australian police - after apparently ‘verbally abusing’ a woman who had joined in the protests against him last week.
Tyler is no stranger to protest - if you know who the rapper is, you’ve probably heard at least one or two stories about him coming under fire for something, be it his wild on-stage antics, or his lewd lyrics. This month, after arriving in Australia for a tour, he was met by groups of people campaigning for his Visa to be revoked - you can check out our coverage of the story here.
Now, Talitha Stone - one of the women involved with Collective Shout, a feminist group who joined in the recent anti-Tyler protests - has claimed that she was verbally abused by Tyler after she attended one of his recent gigs Down Under, and has reported the star to police.
Stone had originally come under fire from supporters of Tyler and his Odd Future rap collective, after he re-tweeted this message that Stone had posted to her Twitter:
“Have to visit @Culturekings tomoz to protest against @fucktyler he will be there at midday. I think they need educating on #misogyny.”
Stone went on to attend one Tyler’s shows at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, where she interpreted some of Tyler’s onstage outbursts to be about her - though her name was never specifically mentioned. Writing for The Guardian, she claimed that Tyler said in reference to her:
“Some bitch was trying to get [me] kicked out of the country, Fucking bitch, I wish she could hear me call her a bitch, too, fucking whore. Yeah, I got a sold-out show right now bitch. Hey this fucking song is dedicated to you, you fucking cunt.”
“No [I really don’t like her], the fucking whore. This is the second time they've tried to get me kicked out of Australia. I'm still in Australia you fucking whore. [I hope her children] get some messed up STDs!”
She also claimed that he dedicated two songs to her - one being ‘Bitch Suck Dick’. Stone went on to write in the article:
“My heart was absolutely pounding as I heard him start to mention me. I was petrified. I was standing among the crowd of people who were chanting along with threats towards me.”
NME reports that New South Wales police are investigating Stone’s complaint, while neither the Enmore Theatre nor Tyler’s tour promoters (Frontline Touring) have commented on the story. What do you think of the news? Leave us a comment in the box below!
