Daft Punk Bookies Favourites For Surprise Glastonbury Festival Appearance

With Glastonbury Festival creeping up on us, the whole of the UK is busy chatting excitedly about the fun to come (or in despair at their lack of tickets), with the Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, and Mumford and Sons all headlining the Pyramid Stage this time around.
While those headliners are the names that’ll steal the, uh, headlines over the weekend, another thing the music world is wagging its chin about is the possibility of some secret performers - and French house duo Daft Punk seem to be in pole position.
In the past, we’ve seen the likes of Radiohead and Pulp perform without warning (in fact, Radiohead did it twice), while the Dead Weather have put on ‘secret’ shows that weren’t really so secret after all.
They don’t happen every year, but they’re not an uncommon event either, so we’re having a look at who could be on the bill (or not on the bill, so to speak) and if anything’s likely, we reckon it’s Daft Punk (and the bookies agree).
The pair topped both the UK and US Albums chart with their latest LP ‘Random Access Memories’, an album which made good use of Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers - who just so happens to already be at Glastonbury 2013. A performance from them wouldn’t really be surprising - and they may even bring a load of stars with them too.
Other names in the mix for a secret performance are the likes of Kings of Leon, who are hitting the UK later in the year anyway to tour what will be a brand new album, while their fellow American rockers Queens of the Stone Age are also one of the common guesses, with their album ‘...Like Clockwork’ finding success worldwide.
From Blur, to Justin Timberlake, to David Bowie, there’s a load of names that people are predicting/hoping to burst out of nowhere and into song at Glastonbury this year - some people are even claiming that One Direction will appear, though we reckon there’s more chance of Elvis himself walking onstage, sandwich in hand.
Got any more guesses? Or even dreams? Leave us a comment in the box below - we’d love to hear them!
