More Than Conquerors - Everything I've Learnt (Album Review)

Formed in 2009, More Than Conquerors are a dynamic, alternative punk outfit from Belfast. Why it has taken them so long to release their debut album, ‘Everything I’ve Learnt’, is anyone’s guess, but it has definitely been worth the wait.
It is not every day you hear a debut album this special. Although it’s not perfect, it’s damn good. It deservedly places the band alongside big hitters like Biffy Clyro, along with those alt-rock heroes of old, Idlewild and Reuben.
Although a lot of ‘Everything I’ve Learnt’ sounds familiar, there is also a sense that it is totally fresh and new, with nothing being rehashed or regurgitated.
It is just what the British music scene and its followers have been waiting for. Every listen reveals that little bit more and pleads for another spin. It is exceptionally well written and you cannot help but play the thing on repeat.
Comprising frontman Kris Platt, guitarist Danny Ball, bassist Danny Morton and drummer Jamie Neish, the band have already built up a following by supporting acts such as Jimmy Eat World, Feeder, Dinosaur Pile-Up and Twin Atlantic, and with this debut under their belt it’s certain that we’ll be hearing plenty more from them.
