Amon Amarth, Hatebreed And Prong Added To Bloodstock 2014 Line Up

Tuesday, 19 November 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Bloodstock have added a further three bands to the festival's growing 2014 line up. Axe-wielding Swedes Amon Amarth, metalcore outfit Hatebreed and US metallers Prong are all added to the main stage bill for what is shaping up to be an awesome weekend.

Having recently headed up Metal Hammer’s Defenders of the Faith Tour, in the wake of recent album release, ‘Deceiver of the Gods’, expect this to be your only chance to catch the mighty horde that is Amon Amarth in the UK in 2014. With frontman Johan Hegg also set to play the role of Viking warrior, ‘Valli’ in a new movie called Northmen - A Viking Saga, 2014 is set to be an exciting year for the band.

Popularly regarded as delivering one of the sets of the weekend at Bloodstock 2012, Hatebreed make a return to churn up the turf with their circle pit skills once more in 2014.  Workaholic frontman, Jamey Jasta is excited for it, admitting:

“When I found out, I opened my window and yelled ‘FUCK YEAH, MOTHERFUCKER!!!!’ My neighbour looked up at me startled, and asked what the outburst was all about. I told him 'We’re playing BLOODSTOCK 2014!!!' So spread the word people, it's gonna be a great summer and it will be Hatebreed's only UK show, so don't you dare miss it!"

Also jumping on to the bill are the much-revered, pioneering post-metal trio, Prong. Led by founder guitarist and frontman Tommy Victor, and rounded out by Tony Campos (Static X, Soulfly) and Alexei Rodriguez (Walls of Jericho, 3 Inches of Blood), Prong are currently working on a brand new album, ‘Ruining Lives’, which is pencilled for a Spring 2014 release via SPV. While you’re waiting for the newie, follow their Spotify playlist channel, or maybe watch the incendiary trio’s video for Revenge….Best Served Cold from 2012’s ‘Carved Into Stone’ album.

Don’t hang around in picking up your weekend tickets, they’re flying out the door as more bands get announced! Tickets for 2014's event are still on sale at special ‘early bird’ prices - a total snip at £115 for a 4-day weekend ticket with camping! There is only a limited number of early bird tickets left. When they’re gone, they’re gone, and tickets revert to full price! Click here for further details.

You can now also book your Bloodstock pre-erected tents for the general campsite via festival partner, Tangerine Fields (VIP packages will be on sale later).  If you’re travelling to the fest from abroad, these are very popular options, as it’s easier and often cheaper than bringing camping gear in your luggage. With the three 2014 headliners already announced, the event is shaping up to be the strongest yet! Friday night’s bill toppers are New Orleans sludgemeisters, Down. Joining them to head up Saturday night are black metal overlords, Emperor and closing out proceedings on Sunday are the mighty thrash legends, Megadeth. Also announced so far are Children Of Bodom, Obituary, Crowbar, Saxon, Decapitated, Flotsam & Jetsam and Evil Scarecrow. More bands will be announced shortly.

Bloodstock takes place at Catton Park, Derbyshire on August 7 to 10 2014. Keep up to date with the very latest info at the official Facebook site and bloodstock.uk.com.
