Arctic Monkeys and Katy Perry have been confirmed to perform at The Brit Awards in 2014.
Arctic Monkeys will provide the opening performance of the show, marking the first time the band has ever played at the event. Along with Manic Street Preachers they are the only British band to have won Best Group and the prestigious Best British Album twice.
Former BRIT winner Katy Perry, whose current album Prism shot to #1 on iTunes in 93 countries, has also been confirmed for her first ever performance on the show. Winner of 2009's International Female Solo Artist, she has received a total of four nominations during her career to date.
Returning to host the awards ceremony for a fifth time and final time, James Corden will step up to the mic next year as the longest serving presenter in BRIT history.
Corden said:
“I really love the Brits. I'm such a fan. I'll miss not doing it after this one but fully intend to enjoy every second of Brits 2014.”
Finally, The Brits have revealed that hat designer Philip Treacy, a man synonymous with some of music’s biggest fashion moments, will bring his own unique vision to the 2014 statue. Philip will re-work a ‘blank canvas’ making the 2014 trophy a truly bespoke award.
Speaking about his involvement Philip said:
“Music has always been my inspiration and I’m fortunate to have worked with some of the music industry’s greatest artists. My inspiration for the trophy comes from a uniquely British genre of music, punk.”
Nominations for the 2014 Brit Awards will be announced in January with specific details to be announced in the coming weeks. The Brit Awards ceremony will once again take place at London's O2 Arena on February 19.
Tickets for the 2014 event are on general sale from 10am on Friday December 13, priced from £70 plus fees. For further details on the 2014 Brits, as well as information on presale tickets, head over to brits.co.uk.
