Sam Smith has won the BBC's influential 'Sound Of 2014' prize.
The vocalist, who emerged last year with performances on Disclosure's Latch and Naughty Boy's La La La, will release his debut album, ‘In The Lonely Hour’, on May 26 and also recently claimed the Critics' Choice gong at the BRIT Awards.
Ella Eyre finished second on the poll, with Banks taking third, Sampha fourth and George Ezra fifth. Smith said:
"I'm completely speechless. It's a huge compliment to be recognised by the industry and the BBC in this way. I really didn't expect it."
Last year's award was won by Haim, while Adele, Keane, Ellie Goulding and Jessie J have also taken home top prize since 'Sound Of' was launched back in 2003.
