Paul Weller arrived at Cardiff Castle on July 24 for an evening of sunshine and classics from his back catalogue, with the Modfather providing exactly what was required in the first show at the venue since the Stereophonics’ second stop there five years ago.
Weller ran through hits from his solo career - recently celebrated with his ‘More Modern Classics’ collection - and cuts from the Jam and the Style Council alongside his band, including long-time collaborator and Ocean Colour Scene guitarist Steve Cradock.
The Cardiff show - where he was joined by the Rails and the Hearts - was the penultimate in a busy summer for Weller, who now heads to Saffron Walden’s Audley End House on Saturday.
