Skepta Wins Mercury Prize 2016 For 'Konnichiwa'

Skepta has won this year's Mercury Prize for 'Konnichiwa'.

Released back in May, the grime artist fought off competition from Laura Mvula, David Bowie, Michael Kiwanuka, Radiohead and the 1975 - who were the winners of the newly-introduced fan vote, to succeed last year’s winner, Benjamin Clementine, who took home the gong for his debut, 'At Least For Now'.

Skepta accepted the award from Lauren Laverne at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, where for the first time the general public were be able to attend the Mercury Prize ceremony.
