Brockhampton Keep the '90s Throwbacks Coming With New Single 1997 DIANA

Friday, 27 July 2018 Written by Helen Payne

Brockhampton have shared the latest cut from an ongoing series of throwbacks.

Back in June, the collective announced a new album, ‘The Best Years of Our Lives’ during an appearance on Fallon. They've since followed it up with a run of '90s-referencing tracks that nod to the era that spawned hip-hop as we know it and provided the groundwork for a band like Brockhampton.

The first cut from the Kevin Abstract-led new record, 1999 WILDFIRE, dropped at the beginning of this month, and was chased up by 1998 TRUMAN. Now, we have another track to jam to: 1997 DIANA.

With the voices of children counting down from 10, the track opens out into fast-paced, high energy verses and one damn catchy lead hook. It blows away the cobwebs from the low-key 1999 WILDFIRE and glitchy 1998 Truman. There’s a video from Abstract too, in which the band have a good ol’ boogie in a high school gym.

It looks like Abstract is sticking to his promise of new music all summer, but there's still no news of a release date for the album. Brockhampton play London and Dublin shows in August, sandwiched between a US tour and dates down under.

Brockhampton Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows:
