Gently Tender have shared a video for their second single, Some Hard Advice.
Formed by Palma Violets members Sam Fryer, Pete Mayhew and Will Doyle, with the Big Moon's Celia Archer on keyboards and guitarist Adam Brown, the quintet's latest track and accompanying self-directed video follows last summer's debut single, 2 Chords Good, which came with b-side Avez Vouz Deja.
Featuring swirling guitars and melancholic lyrics, the song was inspired by Hawaii's false missile alarm in 2018. Fryer said:
"I was reading the news last year and a story caught my attention of how the island of Hawaii went into crisis and panic when everyone received an accidental text message to say that a missile was heading in their direction and they should take cover. The song is about that moment of realisation - the prospect of dying without your loved ones.
This is the first video we have directed ourselves and it was created with the invaluable help of some very close friends of ours. We felt that a simple performance video was right for this song as we didn’t want to distract too much from the song itself."
The band are currently working on a full length album and have a headline London show at Oslo lined up for March 6. They'll also appear at Are You Listening? in April and Live At Leeds in May.
