Keith Flint (pictured centre) has died aged 49.

According to The Sun, the Prodigy vocalist was found this morning at his home in Dunmow, Essex. A spokesperson for Essex Police gave them the following statement:

"We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at just after 8.10am on Monday.

We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

The band began in 1990, with the line up completed by Liam Howlett and Maxim Reality. They broke through to the mainstream with their singles Firestarter and Smack My Bitch Up, both of which featured Flint's vocals, and since then have gone on to become one of the biggest electronica acts in the world.

The trio have sold over 30 million albums worldwide to date, having released seven so far, their latest being 2018's 'No Tourists'. They were due to continue to tour the world to support it this year, with dates lined up in North America, Europe and the UK.

Flint was born on September 17, 1969 in Redbridge, London. He married Japanese DJ Mayumi Kai on Christmas Day in 2006. In addition to his musical career, during which he dabbled with solo projects, he was owner and manager of the successful motorcycle racing team Traction Control and owned and managed the pub The Leather Bottle for a time.

In a statement, the band said: “It is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother and best friend Keith Flint. A true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed. We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time.”

UPDATE: A post has been shared on the official Prodigy Instagram account stating that Flint took his own life. The band have also confirmed that all their upcoming shows have been cancelled.
