Kojey Radical has shared the video for his latest single, Can’t Go Back.
Directed by Charlie Di Placido and Radical, the clip sees the rapper and visual artist turn his hand to contemporary dance, strutting his stuff in a warehouse accompanied by two backup dancers behind him. Beyond the halfway mark there's a switch in tone from feel good to sombre, reflecting on the strength found in those who have known suffering, before ending on some 1930s-inspired string melodies.
Kojey Radical said the video “feels like a return to form," and that when going through the darkest parts of his depression he would dance as a form of therapy. "I wanted to reflect the joy of losing yourself in a moment and letting everything go. It’s taking things all the way back to the basics to begin again and free yourself from past trauma.”
Alongside the video, Kojey Radical has announced a free London show at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen for June 25, as part of his For You live series. Tickets will be available via ballot.
