Beyoncé has released a new single.
The uplifting Spirit will feature on the soundtrack for the new live action version of Disney's The Lion King, in which the singer voices the character of Nala. The film will be released on July 19 in the UK.
'The Lion King: The Gift', which the vocalist will produce and curate, will arrive the same day as the film. Disney confirmed the news via social media, describing it as "a new album of songs featuring global recording artists and steeped in the sounds of Africa."
True to their word, the song combines elements African music, paying tribute to the film's setting, with gospel and pop to create a dramatic and rousing track.
Spirit is the first new release from Beyoncé since she surprise released her live album ‘Homecoming’ in April. The record shares its name with her Netflix film that shows behind the scenes footage of preparations for her 2018 headline set at Coachella, as well as live clips from her two performances at the festival.
