Sam Smith Drops Cover Of Donna Summer's I Feel Love

Friday, 01 November 2019 Written by Helen Payne

Sam Smith has released a cover of Donna Summer’s 1977 hit I Feel Love.

With Guy Lawrence of Disclosure in charge of production, the track gets a modern twist with vocal effects and panned synths, but doesn’t stray too far from the original with stomping beats and a faultless falsetto. Smith commented:

“As a queer person I Feel Love has followed me to every dance floor in every queer space from the minute I started clubbing. This song to me is an anthem of our community and it was an honour and most importantly so much fun to have a go at it – the highest song I’ve ever sung! But a joy. I hope you all like it xx”

The pop vocalist’s last album was ‘The Thrill Of It All’ in 2017, while this year has seen the release of storming singles Dancing With A Stranger and How Do You Sleep?, as well as a collaboration with Renée Zellweger for the Judy soundtrack.
