The Boomtown Rats To Return In Spring With New Album And UK Tour

The Boomtown Rats are back!

The band — drummer Simon Crowe, bassist Pete Briquette, vocalist Bob Geldof, guitarist Garry Roberts — will release 'Citizens Of Boomtown' on March 13. It will mark their first new studio album together for 36 years. The record was produced by Briquette and features 10 new tracks. The first single, and album opener, Trash Glam Baby will be released on January 10.

The four-piece will support the album with a spring UK tour, calling in Brighton, Cheltenham, Birmingham, Liverpool, Cardiff, Cambridge, York, Manchester, Gateshead and London, where they'll perform at the Palladium. Tickets go on sale at 11am on December 13.

On the same day the new record is released, Faber Music will publish Geldof's new lyric book, Tales of Boomtown Glory, which features scans from his old notebooks, among other things. 

2020 will also see the release of a new documentary film by Billy McGrath about the band, from their early days through to Live Aid and the present day.
