Burn, Camden, Burn was originally written in 2009 in the period following the release of 'Slipway Fires', but has been shared now to coincide with its use in the Apple TV+ show Trying, which revolves around a couple living in the London borough. It was pulled from the band's archives at the request of Jim O’Hanlon, the show’s director.
"It was amazing to work with Edwyn [Collins-produer],” recalls frontman Johnny Borrell. “I’m really pleased that the track is finally coming out. It was an interesting period. For the lyrics, I was trying to write a history of my life through three verses, something like the view from the Dublin Castle. 19, 29 years old thinking about what had changed.
“I learnt everything I know in the toilets of the Dublin Castle. Back then, if a stylist came up to you and told you that they liked your look, you told them to fuck off. Your image was yours. Nobody could even take a photo of it. Contrast with today's culture of sharing pictures of oneself, quite a change.”
Head below to spin the toe-tapping, indie-rock track that delivers some tasty guitar solos amid its earworm chorus.
Razorlight put out their last studio album, 'Olympus Sleeping', in 2018.
