Everything Everything have confirmed details of a new album.
‘Re-Animator’ is scheduled for release on August 21 via Infinity Industries and will feature lead single In Birdsong, alongside the newly shared Arch Enemy, which carefully marries high-pitched vocals and an erratic rhythm section. Give it a listen below, and check out the record’s artwork and tracklist.
The new album is said to be heavily inspired by frontman Jonathan Higgs’s interest in psychologist Julian Jaynes’s theory of the bicameral mind. Higgs said:
“This idea of the divided self captivated me. Jaynes attributes this to the origin of gods, people ascribing deity status to this voice they could hear in their head. All this blew my mind, and I started thinking of ways I could make this a central concept. It really touched me. So across the whole record there are millions or references to this theory – to having a split brain, two selves, hearing voices.”
‘Re-Animator’ will follow the Manchester band's critically lauded fourth LP, 2017’s ‘A Fever Dream’.
'Re-Animator' tracklist:
Lost Powers
Big Climb
It Was A Monstering
Planets
Moonlight
Arch Enemy
Lord Of The Trapdoor
Black Hyena
In Birdsong
The Actor
