Justin Townes Earle has died aged 38.
News of the American singer-songwriter's passing was confirmed on his official Facebook page by his family, although the cause of death was not revealed. Earle struggled with addiction throughout this life, and was very open about this.
"It is with tremendous sadness that we inform you of the passing of our son, husband, father and friend Justin. So many of you have relied on his music and lyrics over the years and we hope that his music will continue to guide you on your journeys. You will be missed dearly Justin."
Justin was the son of Carol Earle and country artist Steve Earle, who named him after his friend and songwriter Townes van Zandt. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
During his career, Earle released nine studio albums, the latest being 2019's 'The Saint Of Lost Causes'. He also received the Song Of The Year award at the 2011 Americana Music Honors and Awards for Harlem River Blues, the title track of his 2010 album.
