Gorillaz And The Cure's Robert Smith Team Up For New Single Strange Timez

Wednesday, 09 September 2020 Written by Laura Johnson

Gorillaz have shared a new song that features the Cure's Robert Smith.

Strange Timez, which plays with off-kilter dance beats and discordant keys, follows PAC-MAN with ScHoolboy Q and marks the sixth instalment in the band's Song Machine series, which has also seen them work with Fatoumata Diawara, Slowthai, Slaves, Georgia, Peter Hook, Skepta, Tony Allen, and Octavian.

All the above collaborations will feature on the 'Song Machine: Season One - Strange Timez' collection, which they've announced will arrive on October 23. It will be released on a variety of physical formats, including deluxe box sets that include the band's first annual, a one-of-a-kind 210-page Almanac.

As well as the above artists, the follow-up to 2018's 'The Now Now' will also feature guest appearances by Beck, Elton John, Kano, Leee John, Roxani Arias, St Vincent, 6LACK, CHAI, EARTHGANG, Goldlink, Joan As Police Woman, JPEGMAFIA, Moonchild Sanelly, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.

Alongside news of the record, Gorillaz have confirmed they will perform 'Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez' live for the first time via a global livestream on LiveNow. Head here for more details on that.
