Yusuf Cat Stevens has shared a new version of his song Father And Son.
The revamp serves as the latest preview of the folk legend's forthcoming LP, 'Tea For The Tillerman²', which is due out on September 18. The record features the 11 tracks from 1970's 'Tea For The Tillerman' re-recorded in celebration of its 50th anniversary.
The new version of the folk staple finds Stevens duetting with his younger self. He sings the role of the father, while the son's lines are a recording from his 1970 performance at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. Stevens said in a statement:
"Father And Son feels pretty appropriate for what’s going on right now, if you take the father figure as being the establishment. However, I don’t think revolutions are that kind to the previous order, its main objective is to turn it around and to get rid of them.
"Whereas I don’t personally believe in that; I believe in a kind of a change that would not necessarily destroy everything."
The song is accompanied by an emotional stop motion animated video directed by Chris Hopewell. Take a look below.
