Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder Shares New Instrumental Single Cartography

Eddie Vedder has shared an instrumental new song.
Cartography, backed with a remix by Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner, serves as the Pearl Jam vocalist's contribution to Sub Pop's 'Singles Club Vol. 5'. Proceeds from the record will support Fair Fight, a US grassroots voting rights organisation.
The stirring track comprises steely acoustic guitar plucking and chilling piano keys for a running time of near three minutes. It's lifted from Vedder's score for the 2018 Robert F. Kennedy documentary film, Return To Mount Kennedy. He said:
"Listening to the speech delivered by Bobby Kennedy in regard to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. 50 years ago, you are reminded that once again we are at a moment in time when our society can and must do better. Voting is our most powerful form of non-violent protest. And those whom we vote for must be made deeply aware that the issues of equality and justice in America are of the utmost importance and need to be not only restored but taken to the next level. NOW."

Pearl Jam dropped their latest album, 'Gigaton', in March, marking their first full-length studio offering since 2013's 'Lightning Bolt'. Their European tour has been rescheduled to summer 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
