Roger Daltrey, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Rob Brydon and KT Tunstall have contributed tracks to a new CarFest charity album.
Curated to mark the family festival's upcoming 10th anniversary celebrations in 2021, 'CarFest' is available to pre-order now with all proceeds going to five UK children's charities, including BBC Children In Need and Teenage Cancer Trust.
Other artists contributing to the 19-track limited double vinyl album include Gary Kemp, Sharleen Spiteri, Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs, Beverley Knight and the Feeling, whose bassist Richard Jones had the foresight to record the live performances during three shows from CarFest North and South 2019 and CarFest South 2018. He said:
"I'm very proud of the vibe and energy of the band and guest artists, not to mention the incredible energy of the 35,000 strong CarFest crowd. With no festivals this summer it was a real tonic and a total joy to put this album together and a reminder of what is to come when we all get back out there next year. If this record can be used to make more people aware of the event and the brilliant charities that are involved, then what’s not to love?"
Motoring and music festival CarFest was launched by radio presenter and petrol head Chris Evans in 2012 and is held annually.
The 2021 north instalment of the festival will go ahead between July 23 and 25 at the Bolesworth Estate, Cheshire, while the south edition takes place between August 27 and 29 at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire. CarFest Retro, meanwhile, will happen at Bicester Heritage between June 18 and 20.
