The track is taken from the band's new album 'Shore' that arrived in September. It pays tribute to the musical heroes of lead vocalist and guitarist Robin Pecknold, who produced and performed the song, except for drums and percussion. He said:
"Happy to share a video today for Sunblind that was filmed by Sean Pecknold during the recording process in upstate NY, Paris and Los Angeles and also features footage captured by Kersti Jan Werdal. I wanted to make a song that celebrated my heroes in an explicit way — people who have passed and who I want to honor in the music. That was a big focus of mine, helping them stay alive through these memories. Music is this weird invisible form of immortality for these people, and I wanted to do it in a joyous way and reframe some of the sorrow of loss into a kind of celebration. Big thank you as well to Beatriz Artola as always."
Pecknold's brother Sean also helmed the video for Can I Believe You, another cut from the follow-up to 2017's 'Crack-Up'.
