Jade Bird has dropped a new song, Open Up The Heavens.
Following up her 2020 singles Headstart and Houdini, the soaring alt-pop track serves as the latest taster of the singer-songwriter's forthcoming Dave Cobb-produced second LP, which is due later in 2021, though further details are still to be revealed. She said:
"Open Up The Heavens was written and recorded two days before I had to fly home from recording in Nashville. I’d heard stories about the last song you write for a record being the best, so I was searching for that in the vocal booth of RCA that evening. Halfway into the riff Dave (Cobb) pops his head in and says 'you should really do something with that. So I did. I sent the song to him two hours later and before I knew it, everyone was brought back in and we were tracking my favourite song on the record."
The 23-year-old is due to play a rescheduled show at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire in London on March 9, but it's possible the performance may be rearranged for a second time due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.
